Mission
This website is for collectors designed by collectors. As individuals we all look at an opportunity from different points of view. As individual collectors we add a passion and personal expertise to our individual points of view. What is one person’s passion is the next person’s vice. Collecting sometimes is a delicate balance between a passion and a vice.
This site is not trying to sell items, but rather is attempting to assemble a data base that will allow individuals to find matching points of interests with other collectors no matter how unique each individual’s goal may be. KnifeMatch recognizes that manufacturers, knifemakers, purveyors and collectors do not necessarily share this altruistic philosophy and that many wish to share their collections with confidentiality. In a gallery format collectors can display their collections, knifemakers can exhibit their wares and manufacturers can present collector and closeout items. KnifeMatch can act as a negotiator, provide a secure link and display knives and related accessories that will help to authenticate and value a piece.
Although you have visited many sites that require all sorts of information to just “look” and some have you accept an agreement, we do not. However, should you desire to use the services of this site, search this site or contribute data; we ask you to supply us with enough information to give you approved access to KnifeMatch.
Vision
Because most of the items found in galleries on KnifeMatch are one of a kind custom, limited edition or out of production pieces; KnifeMatch offers several ways to negotiate a piece. Galleries that posted anonymously can be contacted only through KnifeMatch. Galleries that have met our security, privacy and policy guidelines will have an approved link and may be contacted directly. We cannot be held responsible for inventories (availability) for galleries posted on KnifeMatch. If a piece does not have sold or pending sale notification, it should be available.
Our general policy regarding sales is first come, first served. The only way to ensure that an item is yours is to complete an online order for that knife before anyone else does. Our online ordering system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Requests to hold knives via email or phone messages cannot be guaranteed. We make every effort to respond to calls and email in a timely manner, but recommend that you take advantage of our online ordering system whenever possible.
Price negotiations are treated similar to a layaway. If you would like to make an offer, you are required to put one third of your offer total down, pay a minimum of an additional third in when the offer or a negotiated price is agreed upon and the final third in 30 days. This process can take up to 60 days (First payment or deposit with offer, second payment or confirmation of price with agreed negotiated price and final payment or balance due before piece can be shipped) to complete. Your order is shipped when the final payment is made.
During the “negotiation” period the piece will be shown as a sale pending. Once a sale is completed the item will be shown as sold. Note: Items on a gallery that are not available for sale will also be shown as sold. If you would like to confirm the unavailability of a sold item, please contact KnifeMatch. If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us. If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. Cancellations of an offer to purchase with deposit are subject to a 7% handling and credit card processing fee of the amount that has been paid toward the order at the time of cancellation.
